1-Background

The Women’s Programs Association (WPA) is a non-governmental organization registered in the Ministry of Interior and Municipalities in 2008 under license number 344. WPA targets Palestinian refugee women and youth in eight camps throughout Lebanon with a wide range of activities to build their capacity, skills, knowledge and assets to develop themselves and their families and widen their opportunity for employment and decent life.

WPA’s programs include skills training, support education to school drop-out children, adult literacy and numeracy and life skills, pre-school education, psycho-social support, awareness raising on wide range of topics of concerns to women and girls, social cohesion and recreational activities in addition to production units in food catering.

WPA is seeking to recruit a “Social Worker Supervisor” for the protection program at its head office, Beirut – Cola

 

2-Job Purpose:

S/he ensures that Protection principles are understood, maintained and enforced; S/he will supervise social workers in identifying, assessing, referring, and following up on women and families’ protection identified needs/cases in the community; and in providing appropriate interventions.

 

3-Role & Responsibilities:

  • Overview and support the work of the social workers at the centers and provide guidance, as appropriate
  • Supervise case management for individuals and families with accordance with all case management steps and related tools and procedures
  • Supervise ongoing support to families and caregivers, and foster alternative care systems including referrals
  • Coordinate with other service providers for establishing efficient and effective referral pathway, as part of delivering case management program
  • Encourage the engagement of Palestinian Refugees, women and youth in the community in WPA’s programs/activities to improve their protection and address/ respond to their direct needs including Sexual and Gender Based- Violence (GBV)
  • Ensure that the protection projects are implemented according to donors’ requirements and timeframe
  • Review, the action plans set by social workers and monitor and follow up their progress
  • Collect the necessary data and share with Protection Coordinator for reporting
  • Work closely with the Protection Coordinator to ensure proper implementation of the projects
  • Train, coach, and monitor the social workers at the centers
  • Prepare periodic reports about projects and activities progress undertaken by the social workers; and provide input for donors’ progress and final report
  • monitor and evaluate the social workers performance in protection projects

  • Organizational and leadership skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work with people from different backgrounds
  • Able to multitask and manage a heavy and varied workload
  • Able to credibly represent WPA with key stakeholders
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Good understanding of English Language (spoken & written)
  • Proven effective interpersonal and communication skills

 

5-GENERAL

All WPA staff is expected to undertake the following general duties:

  • Work towards achieving organizational strategic plan objectives
  • Work within WPA’s core values
  • Work as part of a team and liaise with other departments to ensure effective communications across the organization
  • Ensure familiarity with and adhere to all WPA policies and procedures
  • Ensure confidentiality of information as required by WPA policies and procedures
  • Undertake any other duties appropriate to the post as may be required
  • Able to work in a mixed team
  • Responsible for his/her own continuing training to develop his/her skills
